Many buyers have unfortunately learned the hard way—what you see isn’t always what you get. Here are 7 common traps in the solar light market:
1. Exaggerated Brightness
Some manufacturers boast claims like “as bright as daylight” or “100,000 lumens.” In reality, the brightness falls far short, and lighting performance is poor due to low-quality LED chips or insufficient power.
2. Fake Battery Capacity
They advertise “high-capacity batteries,” but the real capacity is much lower. Lights don’t last nearly as long as promised, especially on cloudy or rainy days when solar charging is limited.
3. Low-Efficiency Solar Panels
Despite marketing high conversion rates, some solar panels barely charge. Poor materials and manufacturing lead to slow and ineffective energy conversion.
4. False Waterproof Claims
Many products claim to be waterproof but are poorly built. The moment it rains or the air gets humid, they fail due to water ingress or corrosion.
5. Poor-Quality Materials
What looks like sturdy plastic may quickly turn brittle, fade, or deform after exposure to sunlight and outdoor weather. Many low-end brands cut corners on materials.
6. Overstated Motion Sensor Capabilities
Some claim 180° wide-angle sensing with no blind spots, but only include a weak, single sensor with limited range and low sensitivity.
7. No After-Sales Support
Many unknown or unbranded products offer no warranty or customer service. Once the product fails, there’s no way to repair or replace it.
